PRESENTATION OF THE DEPARTMENT

 

The direction of the Department of architectural buildings of the University of Alicante welcomes you to our website.

 

At the beginning of 1984, at the Polytechnic School of Alicante, dependent of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia studies technical architecture, the teachers that taught subjects in the area of knowledge of architectural constructions in this degree, were part of the Department of architectural buildings of the Polytechnic University of Valencia. These teachers were members of the future Department of architectonic constructions of the University of Alicante. In 1991, on the occasion of the secondment of the then Polytechnic University to the University of Alicante became the Department of architectural buildings of the University of Alicante. Since then, he has been the Department responsible for developing and coordinating the teaching and research in the area of knowledge of architectural constructions. In July 2010, after nineteen years of coexistence and common work, there was segregation of part of its members, which went on to form the Department of building and urban planning.

 

The main objective of the Department of architectural constructions, for this new stage of consolidation, is the search for excellence in teaching and research. It focuses on the following lines of action:

  • Empowerment of teaching quality in degrees, masters and doctorates
  • Boost to research in the area of knowledge of the architectural constructions and technological transfer
  • Consolidation of external relations, other national and international universities, with both sectors of the society relating to our area of knowledge.

 

This has a human capital of 44 persons, of which 31 are teaching and research staff, 9 are fellows and researchers contracted and 4 belong to the Administration and services staff, all of them are attached to the Superior Polytechnic School of the University of Alicante.

 

Teaching takes place in the following degrees:

Architecture (plan 1996 studies extinct)

Technical architecture (plan studies 1999 extinct)

Architecture degree (plan studies 2010)

Building engineering degree (curriculum 2010)

Master in sustainable architecture and urban planning (Royal Decree 1393 / 2007) (Department coordinator)

Master in construction management (Royal Decree 1393 / 2007)

Doctoral program architecture, city, Civil Engineering and construction (RD 778/1998 to extinguish) (Department coordinator)

PhD research in architecture and urban planning sustainable program (Royal Decree 1393 / 2007) (Department coordinator)

 

The research task is developed from the following research groups in which personnel seconded to the Department is organized:

 

They develop research projects, both public and private funding, related to different disciplines such as: history of the construction, technology of construction, materials science, construction, rehabilitation architectural, intervention and conservation of the built heritage, conditioning and services, energy efficiency in buildings, sustainable architecture, etc.
